The portrayal of the Chrysalis; Suite One and its adjoining ensuite, is depicted through its the use of colour, pattern, texture, form and shape.

Dark toned colours make for a comforting and romantic atmosphere, An array of textures give the space depth to offset the mostly dark-toned space.

The form and shape of the furniture take on an encapsulating sensation, adding to the need for a comfy feel.

During Metamorphosis, the caterpillar liquefies. Once the transformation is complete, research shows that a butterfly will have memories of its prior life as a caterpillar.

A vertical garden and hints of vibrant colour represent memories that are maintained through the liquefication stage;

As an interpretation of the process itself, the repetition of liquid-like patterns can be seen throughout.

Timber stepping stones from the hallway out to the open plan living area used as a transition, bringing unity and a sense of balance between the 2 spaces.

Reclaimed timber floorboards made from a historical pier at Barwon Heads in Victoria, run the length of the open-plan area. That, as well as the large windows and a 4 panelled sliding door, enables the space to feel open, airy and visually larger.

The knots and grain of the reclaimed timber are reminiscent of trees in a forest, bringing the outside in. Vibrant colours, bring a presence of freedom and spark a Joy.

The marble takes on the form of the veins in a butterfly’s wings as does the acrylic pour Artwork by Shelee Art, though the artwork also resembles the close-up powder like scales of a butterfly wing, which also explains the tactile feel of the luscious velvet upholstery of the living room furniture.

Soft curved furniture and fittings are used throughout mimicking the curvature of wings.

With Sustainability and the need to repair the riff, in mind; furniture and fittings were sourced locally and are made from recycled or reclaimed materials where possible.
