Pixel starships an app created by the client Savy Soda takes on the look of the 80’s pixelled arcade games and is one the top-grossing mobile app games in Australia.
Pacman was the topmost grossing arcade game in the 80’s/90’s. so it's easy to see how they relate and why it was the inspiration behind the concept “Insert Coin”
with references to the 80’s pop culture such as the arcade button light switches, 80’s metal lockers along with the buckets of colour and the “Pacman” wall of stools, the desired playful feel and addressed and achieved.
The use of glass to section off spaces rather walls, kept the space open and airy, allowing light to travel and elongating the space whilst still having zones within the office.
Bright pops of coloured carpet in a scattered herringbone pattern were used to section off zones but also resemble a pixel-like shape.
All the choice of colours used throughout are high in chroma to help to keep the mind active, maintain a creative mindset and happy workspace. lighting would be a cool temperate to match. with this in mind there was a need to bring some warmth, this was achieved by the custom-designed and made locally, native timber tables and bar.
inspired by the form and shape of the space invaders, most of the furniture is angler and square using line to create the shapes in a 3d form.
With the advances in technology and workplaces being refined. The desks and chairs in the open-work space; are all height adjustable to enable the user to either sit or stand, to make the space adaptable and user-friendly, The quiet zone allows you to get comfy and cuddle up, the breakout spaces take you outside giving you freedom and if its privacy your after go hang out in the private rooms.
With a wide range of choices to work from it would be hard not to feel comfortable in these surroundings.
The layout was set out to enable easy access for visitors and harmony throughout the office, Meeting rooms and private spaces located close to the reception area. A quiet zone with high back acoustic chairs to block out any potential annoyance and the three-walled informal collaboration space in the corner near the kitchen and meals area allows for a large gathering and an overflow of guests but also being partly enclosed room the walls will act as a sound barrier.
Eco-friendly businesses were used to create this space, most locally sourced.
